Stephen Specht

Leveraging his experience as a paramedic and veteran prior to pursuing law, at Green & Schafle Stephen Specht focuses his practice on medical malpractice, personal injury, and law enforcement. He is also a passionate advocate for client rights in cases involving education, including special education, eligibility, IEP disputes, tuition reimbursement, bullying, disability discrimination, and school discipline.

### Education & Background Steve received his Bachelor of Art degree, summa cum laude, in Criminal Justice from Temple University in Philadelphia. A Temple Honors student and member of the Temple Veterans Association, he graduated with a cumulative 4.0 grade-point average. He was also the recipient of the Nadia Kravchenko Award and the Neysa and Arlin Adams Prize for Excellence in Pre-Law Studies. Steve graduated from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, cum laude, where he served as Executive Vice-President of the Student Bar Association, President of the Education Law Society, and President of the Veterans Law Society. During his time at Drexel, Steve was a Law School Ambassador, Honor Code Hearing Panelist, Trial Advocacy teaching assistant to Professor Gwen Stern, and was a competition advocate on Drexel’s nationally recognized Trial Team. ### Professional Recognition Further, Steve received highest honors in Pennsylvania Family Law and Lawyering Practice, as well as the prestigious Rising Advocate Scholarship, a scholarship awarded to students with outstanding undergraduate records and LSAT scores. He was also awarded the Drexel Faculty Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Law School Community; the Philadelphia Bar Association Outstanding Law Student Award; and the Drexel Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award. During law school, Steve served as a law clerk for Green & Schafle. Prior to that, he was a summer associate for the Support Center of Child Advocates. Previously, he also served as an intern for Disability Rights Pennsylvania. ### Community Service & Prior Experience Prior to pursuing his law degree, he spent years in public service, as a paramedic for the Philadelphia Fire Department and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a law enforcement officer with the United States Secret Service, and a non-commissioned officer in the United States Navy. Steve is an active member of his community, serving as Co-President of the Abington School District Special Education Parents Advisory Council, member of the Council of Parent Advocates and Attorneys, and as advocate for students and their families in special education meetings in numerous school districts across the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
